My son became depressed through various changes in his/our life and he got heavily in to cannabis, leading to him messing up his school exams, part time job and it changed him as a person. In this time he stole money from us and got into a lot of debt.
I have always supported him and things are a lot better than they were 5 years ago, but he still will not give up the cannabis, meaning he keeps repeating the same negative actions. I know he wants to change, but does not see that the main thing that sends him off track is the cannabis.
I felt sad, helpless and often blamed myself, When they are children it is easy to guide them and help them but as an adult it is so much harder. I know that growing up, I gave him all that I could, both physically and mentally, but I have realised through engaging with PSL that it is not my fault and I am not the only one that it happens to.
I have had great support from PSL.
