My son had broken radius and ulna-seen at fracture clinic who issued a splint to wear for 2 weeks post plaster cast removal. Contacted the clinic to ask to be issued with another wrist splint due to very hot weather and having to repeatedly wash the splint and was refused, stating only 1 splint is issued. Concerns raised re hot weather, son perspiring and possible infection but still refused. I found them very obstructive.
The outcome of this now being is my son has a pseudomonas infection on his hand and arm and is on antibiotics. I believe all of this could have been prevented had we been listened to and issued a second splint to change and thoroughly wash. Not good enough to be told ‘you only get one’
