I'd like to share my story. Emma from this team has genuinely supported my Aunt's dementia journey. I think the package is put in place for a year for home visits and these visits were so valuable.
Emma listened to my Aunt and family and used her contacts to put in place activities to benefit my Aunt and help maintain her quality of life and independence. Although the visits have now stopped, Emma is still happy for me to contact her for any more support. She's helped me with guidance on the best way to handle a close bereavement for my Aunt.
Very recently I had big issues with my Aunt's local GP, and Emma sorted this out by contacting her own dementia specialist doctor. I'm very grateful for the help from Emma. Also Emma doesn't just do her job, her core values are very genuine. And while she maintains professionalism in what she does, she'll never walk past without saying hello.
It's simple things like this that matter. I don't think she gives herself enough credit what she does, and I think NHS should really recognise Emma. It's rare to have someone who exceeds their role and genuinely cares and enjoys what she does.
