"Excellent maternity care"

About: Maternity care / Antenatal clinic Maternity care / Consultant Led Unit Maternity care / Maternity Assessment Victoria Hospital / Maternity care

(as a service user),

I gave birth in December 2022.

I had an emergency induction at 37 weeks due to fetal bradycardia and slow labour not progressing.

I want to thank-

Kate, SCM in maternity assessment for absolutely terrifying me when she told me I was in the early stages of labour at 36+5, she was so thorough and supportive even when the department was extremely busy.

Eliza in the maternity ward for being my hero overnight  when I was in slow labour. Another nurse on that night whose name I can’t remember but began with L was also so caring, she held my hand and comforted me through contractions whilst I had doctors round me as baby’s HR was under 100.

Dr Bhaskar for supporting me from 24 weeks until I gave birth. She is an unsung hero. I couldn’t put how grateful I am into words for her care, compassion and constant listening ear.

Kirsti and Ola for delivering my baby. I didn’t believe Kirsti when she told me he would be the next baby born in the hospital… he was!

Claire for caring for us and discharging us in time for Christmas despite several hiccups.

Finally the obstetric reg (Rosie?) who was on nightshift shift for monitoring me closely and ensuring baby arrived safely with it being a fast induction, bradycardia and having a bilobed placenta.

My son is happy, healthy and now crawling so causing mischief 24/7.

Thank you for getting my little boy here safely.

Final thanks to Yvonne, Fertility Nurse. Although we didn’t need the clomid we literally had in the house ready to start, as I miraculously fell pregnant naturally. Yvonne arranged early scans and made sure I was known to EPC given a previous loss and high risk pregnancy.

Dear Missyscott,

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your care, when you had your baby boy. I will personally ensure all the staff are informed of your lovely feedback.

Well done for remembering so many names, it means so much to us, that the staff obviously had a positive impact on your experience. It can be scary when things are happening out of your control, knowing you felt supported is reassuring.

I will also pass on your thanks to Yvonne, she will be delighted to hear you are both well.

I am pleased to hear your son is happy and healthy, please accept my best wishes for the future.

from

Pamela
