"Rudeness of Receptionist was mind blowing"

About: Pilgrim Hospital

Having attended this hospital on numerous previous occasions my opinion has never been high. However my visit to the x-ray dept I had hoped would be quite a pleasant experience as is usually the case. I turned up on Sunday morning in the department and although there was no one sat at the front desk there were 2 members of staff stood next to it chatting away. My presence was not acknowledged. I waited in total for 4 minutes for the conversation to end and then reluctantly the receptionist sat down at the desk and started typing from the letter I had placed on the desk. Not so much as a friendly "hello, how can I help you" which I normally get greeted with on previous visits to the department. There was complete silence until she eventually asked me my name. I then nudged the letter a bit further in case they could not see my name and at the same time told them my name. At which point, miraculously the receptionist finally spoke, or should I say raised their voice at me and said "I need to check your details". This was accompanied by a very dirty look and to be honest a most unpleasant experience totally unwarranted as all I had said was my name which is what I was asked. If this interaction had been witnessed by a senior member of staff I am certain disciplinary action would have been taken, and if not, it should have been. Nobody should be on a reception desk if they can not greet the public courteously and this person certainly did not do this. This seriously needs looking into as the department is a busy one and see's a lot of people in pain, and apprehensive about x-ray's etc and I really would hate anyone else having to experience a first impression like this. The rest of the department experience was fine, but I am afraid the rudeness on the front desk yesterday soured my trip there. Either a course in Customer Care is maybe what this person is in desperate need of or a move from front of house.
