"Shocking"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital

Went to A and E as my GP wasn’t answering the phone. Presented with symptoms of shaking, chills, upper abdomen pain, extreme fatigue and bad brain fog. Waited 4 hours on an uncomfortable chair praying I would not pass out. Doc saw me, rude woman, felt my abdomen and said” there’s nothing wrong so I can’t give you anything, no tumours or cysts”. I was shocked as I never said anything about tumours or cysts. I asked for blood tests and she tried to push me off by saying it’s a diff department and I’ll be waiting hours and hours, I told her I’ll wait. Then she sent me back to waiting room and she would arrange a urine test. 3 hours later, another doc came and called me to take blood. Said she would send a nurse to see me to do Obs and a take a urine sample. No nurse arrived. Bloods were in range so I was sent home with a broad spectrum antibiotic. 5 days later I feel the same but can’t go through all those hours in A and E and made to feel like I’m wasting their time.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your recent experience.

I am really sorry to read of the experience you have described and how staff were unsympathetic to your symptoms. The Trust has values and behaviour in place that staff must adhere to and I am sorry if this was not your experience.

I have shared your feedback with the team in the department as it is important we learn from our patient's experiences.

I am equally sorry that you are still not feeling well and therefore, I would advise you either try and make contact with your GP or speak to 111.

Thank you again and I hope you feel better soon.

Kind regards

Clare Blackburn
