"Maternity services"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Ward C2 Maternity care

(as a service user),

I went to AAH to deliver my baby. I was very happy with the midwife that delivered my baby. They acted in a professional manner and delivered person centered care to my family.

I stayed in 1 night to get a little more support with breastfeeding. The midwives overnight did not support me during this time. If it wasn't for the midwife I got the next morning I know I wouldn't have stuck with it. They were amazing and you could tell they loved their job.

I feel if I went in not having made up my mind how to feed my baby I would definitely be bottle feeding.

My name is Louisa Lapworth Interim Lead Midwife.

Firstly, congratulations on the birth of your baby.

Thankyou for taking the time to send this feedback to us. I am very pleased to hear that you had a positive birth experience and were happy with the midwife who looked after you.

I am sorry to hear that you weren't supported with breastfeeding overnight in C2. I will share your story with the C2 Sister and the breastfeeding specialist midwife to discuss ways we can improve support for women. I am glad that you received good support in the day and describe the midwives as amazing.

Wishing you all the best,

Louisa Lapworth
