"Situation with the dentist"

About: Adult Health Services / Public Dental Services

(as the patient),

Today,I visited the dentist department in Falkirk Community hospital with severe toothache.

I explained my problem at reception that I've had appointment with my dentist last week who wasn't able to scan my tooth (I'm waiting for referral which was sent to my home address and later I needed to wait in a queue to book my scan in hospital).

My dentist tried fix my tooth even without scan but said if problem worsened please go to hospital and explain the situation.

I listened to this advice and I went to hospital.

With eyes full of tears I said that I can't stand this pain and my dentist can't help me in this situation.

Without any compassion and empathy they further delayed help in this situation, and sent me once again back to the dentist.

We're really sorry to hear of your experience. It would be worth returning to your own dentist to confirm the advice you were given as it was not correct. It sounds as if you need to see an oral surgeon and that you attended the wrong clinic, all oral surgery takes place at FVRH.

All dentists should be aware that they never should advise patients just to turn up as we do not always have clinics running or staff available to help. An urgent referral or telephone referral by your dentist would be the best next step and it would get you the correct place at the correct time to get help.
