Anything else?
I was cared for during the summer on Hockley Ward, and I must say I have concerns regarding patient safety. I noticed that one of the nurses, whenever she did drug rounds she never checked patient ID. I am a Student Nurse myself, and I know full well that patient ID should always be checked when giving out medication and the nurse never did this with me or any of the other patients in the bay. This is concerning because what if some one were allergic, or what if they had been given different medication? I also had nurses being rude and found that they had left the drug trolley open in the middle of the bay, while answering phone calls and mucking about with other colleagues, which I find is dangerous and very unprofessional. I also felt it was unprofessional that a nurse has a go at another student nurse in front of patients, families and staff. A very worrying and I'd say unsafe environment. I have serious concerns about her and would welcome some advice on how to proceed.
