"Positivity in Huntly Ward, Royal Cornhill Hospital, Aberdeen"

About: Royal Cornhill Hospital / Adult mental health

(as the patient),

I am writing to you to give valuable feedback of my observations while being an inpatient in Huntly ward, Royal Cornhill Hospital.

Every morning, all valuable members of staff bring sunshine to an environment that can be very busy, demanding, noisy, aggressive, and violent. Their sunshine, warmth, generosity, positive mindset, compassion, empathy, active listening dissolves the darkness.

I have been witness to patients shouting, swearing, being aggressive towards staff members.

I have an abundance of respect for all people who choose to work in this field.

Dear Superwoman,

Thank you so much for taking time to share your very valuable feedback. It is always lovely to hear from patients.

Compassion, empathy, warmth and kindness are exactly what we hope everyone who comes to the ward experiences, and we hope that by actively listening to patients we can make a positive difference. I’m glad to hear this helped you.

As the Lead Nurse for this area is makes me very proud to hear that the staff brought sunshine into the ward, and I will make sure your feedback is shared with all staff members. It will make the challenging times that little bit easier.

Take care,

Claire
