"Poor mental health service"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Adult mental health

(as a carer),

I had an appointment following an admission within the mental health ward. The doctor didn’t know that I had been an in-patient, and didn’t explore the reasons why. The appointment lasted less than 15 minutes. I was asked a few questions and that was it. It wasn’t a proper assessment.

Didn’t give me any advice on what to do if I was in a difficult position again. Didn't give feedback on when I should return to work. They asked when I’d like to be seen again, I said that he should advise on this and just said come back in 3 months. Very poor assessment. Disappointed in the mental health service. Someone who has been an in patient should be seen and assessed more frequently and thoroughly. Feel like I have been left with no help and support.

I am very sorry to hear that this was your experience with our services, it is certainly not the standard we would expect of our teams.

I would welcome the opportunity to explore this experience further if you feel able to?

To do this I would require your name and date of birth so that I can ensure that I deal with the matter directly with the team involved.

Once again I apologise for your experience, I can be contacted via my PA Deborah Rodgers on 01592 643355 ext 23964 if you would like to call with your details or alternatively you can leave them with Patient Experience Team on fife.patientexperience@nhs.scot who can log your concern.
