I first developed Crohn’s disease in 1981 while living in Aberdeen. I’d never heard of it. I only knew that I was in a lot of pain, became skeletal, and didn’t know what was wrong. My Crohn’s was so advanced, that in 1983, after 2 years of ups and very deep downs, I had my colon removed.
I’d been given a fresh start. I lived life to the full, felt great, changed careers and became a teacher, married, moved back to Elgin and produced two daughters with no problems. Then, in 2009, I had a bit of a setback. I developed sepsis and was ambulanced into Dr Gray’s. The care I received was excellent. I was looked after 24 hours a day and due to their care and attention, I was out within a week.
Since that time, Dr Gray’s has kept me on their radar with regular check ups and I can’t thank them enough. Dr Hew and his team inspire such confidence in me and any time I’ve had to go in for blood tests, x-rays, endoscopes or any other procedures, I have felt cared for and welcome. The staff are so busy and work so hard, but always have time to talk, to explain and to put you at your ease.
I am so thankful that we have such a good health facility and excellent staff in Elgin. Thank you for all you do.
