"My Father"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Initial Assessment Unit

(as a relative),

My father received a call from his GP at 4pm recently, in a panic telling him he must get to QEUH immediately as his potassium was too high and it was life threatening. My elderly father and mother were so distressed I quickly left work and ran him there. 4 hours later at 8.30pm my dad called and they hadn’t even taken blood, he was still in a waiting room (I thought he was life threatening).

It took me to call the immediate assessment unit and express my disgust for this to happen. A further 2 hours he was given a bed but still no doctor no results. We assumed he was now safe in bed for the night. Not. They basically kicked a 76 year old man who struggles to walk out at 4am told him nothing wrong. He had to get a taxi in the middle of the night. I am beyond angry and want some answers here if this is how you treat someone supposedly life threatening then I’m seriously concerned what’s going in this hospital.
