About: Health visiting / Angus Health Visiting

(as a carer),

I’ve found the support from our Louise invaluable with my second child.

From the prenatal visit she made me feel that any decision we made was the right one as it was for our family - and that has really built my confidence that I’m doing the right thing. Whether that be around birth, feeding, sleep etc.

This has continued through the care we have received postnatally. Whilst maintaining confidentiality, Louise has given me examples of things other mums/families have done that have helped reassure me or to support me to try different approaches.

Louise always makes you feel that you are important and she has time for you, and is really approachable and open to communicating using different ways. For example she is happy to receive a text if I have a quick question. I have found this really helpful around the juggle of family life. She is never too busy to help, and always comes back to you when she’s working.

With my first child, I experienced poor mental health postnatally and I struggled to bond with my baby. From our first appt, Louise has discussed this sympathetically with me and my husband. This helped us identify preventative steps and create a plan if this was to happen again; previously I had struggled to have this conversation with my husband.

Louise is straight talking and incredibly kind, and these are skills that I have hugely appreciated to enable me to have a completely different experience this time round. I’m really grateful for being allocated Louise as our HV, her support to this point, and look forward to continuing to work together.

Dear Kate26,

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about the support and care you and your family have received from your health visitor.

It is reassuring to hear that the visit from your health visitor in the antenatal period helped build a strong and therapeutic relationship between you and your HV and allowed you the time( before the baby was born) to discuss your plans and decisions relating to many aspects of parenting. The HV service strongly promotes a visit/contact between parents and HV antenatally and I am delighted to hear how beneficial this was for you.

As a service we really appreciate hearing the views of parents as it allows us to make changes and improvements to the health visiting service when this is required and also to celebrate when health visiting care delivery has gone well- as in your case.

Thank you again for the positive comments and all the very best with your ongoing parenting journey.

Regards

Audrey
