"The highest level of care"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Short Stay Surgery

(as a service user),

I had a Gynaecology day case procedure done under general anaesthetic.

I was admitted to ward 302 and I can honestly not praise the staff enough. The ward and toilets were spotlessly clean and every member of staff I met were friendly, polite and reassuring . I felt safe and well cared for both in the ward and in theatre .

The theatre porters were so nice to every patient they accompanied to and from theatre again polite and smiling .

The staff nurses who  helped post op with dressings were so kind and when I needed assistance came straight to me despite how busy they all were. We even shared some laughs and I witnessed nothing but kindness towards fellow patients.

Being a patient is not easy when you're a nurse yourself as anxiety levels are heightened so huge thank you to the whole team on ward 302 for the highest level of care you all give .

Dear AlbaB,

Thank you so much for sharing your feedback with us. As the Nurse Manager for Ward 302 it made me very proud reading this story. It’s a great example of how a team working well together can make a positive difference to the patient’s journey.

Being a nurse will make you much more aware of the possible complications and risks associated with medical procedures – so it definitely heightens anxiety. I’m glad the team managed alleviate that with a laugh and kindness.

I’m sorry it has taken me so long to respond to you, but I can assure you this has been passed to the team who were delighted you got in touch.

I hope you have made a good recovery following your procedure.

Take care,

Fiona
