"My mum's care"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Accident & Emergency Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Ear, Nose & Throat (Ward 11b) Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Urology (Ward 11c)

(as a relative),

My mother, in her eighties, went to A&E at QEUH in August where she received excellent care.  She was seen swiftly and quickly admitted to 11B ENT and very well looked after.

Unfortunately from then on she was moved to 11C where the staff were all fabulous but her care by medical staff became frustrating and not the best at all.  She was an inpatient for just under 7 days but we as a family do not feel this was at all necessary and used up a precious bed in an over stretched NHS.  Medical staff chopped and changed their minds on a daily basis, fasting my mother daily to then change their minds again.

As I say nursing and auxiliary staff were great.

Dear Linzc75

Thank you for getting in touch via Care Opinion. I am sorry to hear that your Mum had to be admitted to hospital and I hope she is recovering well. I am glad that your Mum received excellent care and was seen swiftly and quickly admitted.

It is disappointing to read that the medical care let you feeling frustrated and that your Mum could have been discharged sooner. Please pass on my apologies to your Mum. Your feedback has been shared with the Senior Management Team responsible for Ward 11C for discussion and actioning. Should you wish to discuss this any further can you please email patientexperience@ggc.scot.nhs.uk with your details and your Mum's details.

Many thanks

Nicole

Hi, Linzc75, I am happy to hear that your mum is recovering at home and that you felt that she received good care when she was an inpatient in Ward 11B and 11C QEUH from the nursing teams. If you would like some more background to the medical decisions made during your mums stay on Ward 11C then please email me your mums name and CHI number and I will do my best to answer.
