I attended Day Surgery at Grantham Hospital. I was taken to the ward and bed allocated to me for the day and asked to remove my clothing and put on the hospital gown, placing my belongings in the bedside locker.
Shortly afterwards nurses Binhu and Juby came to see me to start going through the necessary paperwork and health checks. They were both very friendly, informative and efficient. (I am sorry that I think that on my return to the ward after my operation - I blame the anaesthetic - I started calling Juby “Linda”, my apologies.)
I then saw the anaesthetist who was also very friendly and gave me confidence before the procedure. Her visit was followed up by that of the consultant’s, Dr Nkarngeyan and her registrar, who was a very nice gentleman whose name I do not recall.
Juby returned with some surgical stockings for me to wear but Bindu helped me to put them on correctly before escorting me to the operation theatre waiting rooms where she left me. All the way on the walk Bindhu continued to reassure me and told me that she would be there to collect me later - which she was. A very lovely lady - thank you.
I felt very much cared for and that I was in safe hands throughout my stay. Thank you to everyone I met yesterday and for your empathy and compassion. Thank you too to the tea/refreshment lady.
