I wanted to say a huge thank you to the health care professionals in the early pregnancy unit and to the surgical team, who both supported me with compassion and care during our miscarriage. The care was best practice at its finest, I felt like the midwives were very clear, honest and respectful. I was given information to make all choices myself, and felt empowered and supported at all times. There were adaptations I asked for to make the experience more individualized, and this was kindly and sensitively facilitated. A time that we found very hard, was made so much easier by having the best care possible and I am so grateful for this.
On the day of the surgery I was anxious about various parts, all the health care professionals involved were compassionate towards these feelings. They provided me with detailed information that really helped. In the theatre, when I was very upset everyone around me reassured me and made me feel more relaxed. After surgery I didn't see the staff again but I felt like I'd been looked after extremely well during a difficult procedure for me. I would be much less anxious if I was to need this again due to the treatment I experienced.
I was especially impressed with how delicately and respectfully the miscarriage was dealt with. I was able to take home the remains in beautiful white boxes, this happened without questions and it was really helpful with closure for us.
The experience was overall really positive for us, thanks so much to everyone involved.
