I attended Fetal Assessment Unit recently. I was cared for by midwife Briege, who was attentive, caring and highly competent in her job. I immediately felt safe with Briege. She kept me well informed throughout my time in fetal assessment- something which is so important to me.
Following fetal assessment I was taken to delivery suite where I had input from Dr Brown, Sister Girvan and midwives Jenny and Jessica.
The delivery of my baby boy was not what I had planned in my birthing preferences, but overall because of each and every one of these people I feel incredibly lucky to say I think of my experience in a positive light.
Everyone worked together to ensure we got our baby here safely. I felt very well looked after, safe and respected throughout my delivery. Dr Brown and Sr Girvan provided me with a de-brief following delivery and this to me was so helpful to process parts of the delivery.
It may not have been the water birth I had hoped for, but I firmly believe that my delivery was exactly what was required given our individual circumstances at time of labour. I’m not sure I would have felt like this if I wasn’t as well informed and cared for during the process. A fantastic team of people who bring their expertise together to ensure the best outcome is achieved. I will forever be grateful for their input in helping me deliver my beautiful baby boy.
"I felt very well looked after, safe and respected"
