Referred by Poole Hospital to Oakhaven for pain relief. Have prostate cancer, cannot be cured. Do assessment each week at Oakhaven by Nurse. Also have therapy, feet massage etc. Look forward to go to Hospice each week, makes my week and meeting other people with cancer, people to talk to have jigsaw and books which you can borrow.
The hospice has visiting speakers after lunch. Also have trips out to local beauty spots eg. a cruise down Southampton Water to see the cruise liners, to gardens, Kingston Lacy etc.
The lunch is always very good, and has choice of menus. Hospice has volunteer driver to pick you up and take you home able to take wheelchairs.
The garden at the hospice is beautiful with changing colours depending on the seasons great to sit outside.
Also at Hospice have chapel, good to sit and remember my wife has recently died.
The hospice is haven.
