I was dealing with OCD, including rituals and obsessive thoughts coupled with anxiety and night terrors. I had been dealing with my rituals for the most of my life, from around the age of 8. Before coming to therapy I didn’t have much hope or confidence in helping my OCD and night terrors but I was completely overwhelmed by how much it helped.

I had Katie as my therapist and she went above and beyond in helping me to improve my life and how I dealt with stressful situations and my OCD. She provided me with the tools I need to keep my compulsions at bay and to deal with future anxiety I may have in the future. I cannot speak more highly of her and her professional yet caring nature.

I have been able to manage my rituals to the point where I don’t complete them anymore and in turn have reduced my anxiety and my night terrors. Without this therapy I feel it would have gotten worse and my mental health would have declined.

I had been on a waiting list for almost two years but the therapy I received was worth the wait and exceeded my expectations. If you are someone who is waiting on help, please don’t lose hope and give it your all. The therapy is an hour a week but the time and effort you put in is paramount to it working, during and after the sessions conclude.

Thank you and good luck to those who hope to undertake CBT in the future.

Thank you for sharing your story – I am delighted to hear that you have had such a positive experience and have made a good recovery with regards to your OCD.

We are sorry that you had to wait so long for your CBT intervention. As a service we are actively working on trying to improve waiting times.

I will ensure that Katie receives your feedback and it is shared with the wider team. Your comments will be very encouraging to our CBT staff and hopefully also to those individuals who are currently waiting on their appointment.

I hope that you are able to continue to use the strategies you have learned in therapy and wish you well for the future.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience.
