I attended a routine midwife appointment on my due date, where my blood pressure was found to be high so I was referred to maternity day care for monitoring.
I was naturally very anxious and worried about the baby, even more so as I have had a textbook pregnancy with no extra appointments needed.
I was taken right on time, and put at ease straight away. I was there two consecutive days for an hour of monitoring each time.
The two midwives who looked after me, Fiona and Gilliam, were both fab. They were so experienced and able to explain things to me so clearly when I was panicking a bit. They reassured me and made sure everything was looked at thoroughly.
On my second day I was also reviewed by Dr Hendry, who was great with me. She explained everything and we decided together that an induction was the safest option for me and baby.
I was discharged with medication for my blood pressure.
I also work for the nhs and felt genuinely quite overwhelmed with gratitude for the team looking after me during these two episodes of monitoring.
Hoping for a straight forward delivery now.
