I have the condition called Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia. This condition did not start to develop in me until mid-life and is incurable. As the condition began to worsen I became more and more frustrated by the Consultant Neurologist, who seemed unwilling to offer anything to assist me to slow down the progression of the symptoms.  Following this consultant's retirement I had the great fortune to have an appointment with their successor, Dr. Harrower.
Dr. Harrower has gone out of his way to do everything within his power to assist me in keeping walking for as long as possible over the past three years.
Two monthly Botox injections into the calf muscles of both legs has significantly reduced the tensions that build up due to my very abnormal gait. He has made recommendations  regarding additional treatment from the Bideford Hospital Physiotherapy Dept.
I fully appreciate that I am incredibly fortunate to be able to have a meeting with the Consultant Neurologist on a regular eight weekly cycle, during which I am able to discuss any new problems that I may be experiencing and knowing that Dr. Harrower will offer whatever assistance he can to me as well as any useful advice. I am extremely grateful for this amazing service.
