"The staff on this ward are unbelievable"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department Craigavon Area Hospital / Orthopaedics Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / Emergency ambulance response

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I came to the hospital last Saturday after I had a fall, I had to wait three hours at the bottom of my stairs for the ambulance to arrive, then another 3 hours in the hospital before getting brought to a ward.

The staff on this ward are unbelievable, they have been brilliant I'm very happy with everything. I'm receiving my surgery tomorrow and I have been given lots of updates, so the communication with doctors and nurses has been good. The staff have been great at listening to me and taking on board what I'm saying, as I was in a lot of pain the other day and they quickly got it sorted by given me some pain relief. I have no issues with anything on the ward, I'm very comfortable and I don't think anything needs improved here.

Dear Emmgh49,

I would like to begin by thanking you for taking the time to share your feedback of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.

As an organisation we are committed to consistently showing compassion, professionalism and respect for the patients we care for, so it was disappointing to learn of your experiences.

With regards to our response times please be assured that we are working closely with the Department of Health and the Strategic Planning and Performance Group to increase our available resources. We are also working with the local EDs to try to ensure that our patients can be handed over to hospital clinical teams as quickly as possible so that ambulance are able to respond to further emergencies.

I wish you a speedy recovery

Best wishes,

Neil
