"Referral times"

About: Woodend Hospital / Elective Orthopaedics

(as a service user),

I fractured my spine and L3 burst fracture, doctor put in referral to Woodend, they put me to physio who said they were in close contact with consultants about any problems with my back.

3/4 months passed and I knew something was not right so I had to push and push for an MRI, took 5 months of pushing to finally get one. I have a disc protrusion, and spondylosis physio said, and they have spoken to spinal consultant and I've to be escalated to see them. Then to be told I'm on list but as a new patient - so have to wait at least 22 weeks to see them!

By the time I eventually get to see them will be near a year since the accident. The treatment I have received has been well below standard, in constant agony, leg giving way due to nerve pressure, and my back in severe pain. I have had to get sleeping pills because I can’t sleep for pain. It's not fair that I have to wait the same as a new patient when they know about me and been in contact with physio about me.

I feel very let down about the treatment i have received from Woodend. I have had previously had operations there and it was 5 star but not on this occasion 😩

Hi

I am sorry to hear about your experience. Could I please ask you to phone the management team up at Woodend who will be able to look into your treatment pathway and advise further. They can be reached on 01224 556149

We will need patient specific details and take from there

Hope this helps

Thank you
