I am from Glasgow but live abroad now. I was over on holiday with my daughter, who is terrified (and I mean terrified) of dentists. As soon as we arrived in Glasgow her whole face began to swell and it became apparent she had an infection. We went to A&E at the Royal Hospital for Children and they quickly realised she would have to be admitted to the hospital.
The whole process was very speedy and the staff were not only helpful but were extremely compassionate and understanding. They really put my daughter at ease and treated her with great care, listening to her concerns and taking everything at her pace.
When we were admitted my daughter had her own room and I was able to stay with her in a separate bed. The care was outstanding and my daughter was monitored frequently. She was eventually discharged 2 days later when she was well on the mend.
All the staff from the cleaners right up to the doctors were very cheery and polite and were always there to answer the smallest query.
This is a gem in the crown of the NHS and demonstrates why doctors and nurses should be paid more, in my opinion.
"The care was outstanding"
