Day Surgery: Prostate Operation.
The admission process was very smooth and everything went according to plan. The Green Light Laser operation took place more or less at the promised time and seems to have gone well (only 4 days ago, but so far so good!).
Due to personal circumstances I was allowed to stay overnight, and was given a single room, which was excellent.
The nursing care was outstanding - everyone was very, very kind and couldn't do enough for me. I'll mention Dawn, Rachel, Karen and Corinne only because I remember their names, but others were first class too.
My only reservation is that I did not see the consultantat any time before or after the operation. Pre-op I had some time with a staff member (not in scrubs and not identified in any specific role) who did a good job of explaining the operation and associated risks. However, post-op I saw nobody other than the nurses.
Perhaps it is such a straightforward operation that the consultant's time can be spent more profitably elsewhere, but as a patient I would have found it reassuring to have been told how the operation had gone by the person who had done it.
