"Waiting for a scan with no indication on when"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Acute Medical Unit (AMU)

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I came in recently through the ED. The nurses are brilliant. The ward is very clean, I would say it's a lot cleaner than A&E. I would say the communication is good and bad, I have been waiting for 2 days for a heart scan and still haven't been told when I will actually be going. As the last time I went for the scan, there was a blurred part that was unclear. The facilities are good, although one remote for all TVs on the ward is a pain, I have my own tablet though which is grand so I don't worry too much. Bathroom are all fine, everything is accessible to you on the ward. I think the ward needs more staff, there are an awful lot of people laying around waiting for x rays etc. A lot longer than needed.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding your experience in AMU.. I am glad to hear that overall your experience with the nursing staff was positive one, however I am sorry that you felt the communication wasn’t great and that you felt the waiting times were longer than necessary. Unfortunately the hospital is very overcrowded at present and waiting times have grown due to demand. I will pass on your feedback to the team as we are always looking to improve and I wish you all the best going forward.
