My sister had a knee joint replacement operation in July 2010 which was not successful (although she had the other knee joint replaced a couple of years before at East Surrey and that went well).
Initially the operation seemed to have gone well but within a couple of months she experienced increasing pain and difficulty in walking. She was seen by a doctor in outpatients and the consultant in the Trauma and Orthopaedic clinic over a period of months and was continually told the problems were probably nerve damage.
Time and time again she asked to be seen and even x-rays were taken again and it seemed no one even looked at them. It was months later that someone actually did look at them in May 2012 and realised that her replacement joint had become detached from her tibia which was why she had been in so much pain for so long.
No one would listen and even now 3 years on she is still having trouble.
