I am an amputee, leg above the knee, in my seventies
I attended Wishaw Hospital Physiotherapy Amputee Rehabilitation Clinic.
The physiotherapists concluded that even with a false limb I would not be able to use it outdoors, they submitted a referral for an electric wheelchair.
I attended an assessment by WestMARC for use of a wheelchair.
The first question was how do get around the house. I said that , as the house was fitted for wheelchair use I managed with a manual wheelchair.
That was the end of the assessment! They said electric wheelchairs were given if required for indoor use! My doctor appealed against this, due to my medical condition, but was given the same answer.
Basically, this means I am housebound with no chance of going anywhere!
