Our neighbour and good friend was cared for in Altnagelvin Hospital in the Western Health and Social care trust. During this time the staff on ward 4 and ward 32 looked after him in a compassionate manner. Unfortunately he became acutely unwell and during this time the staff, ranging from the theatre nurse to the anaesthetist, gently explained the changing situation.
I would like to highlight Tony on ward 32, for providing excellent end of life care. He was knowledgeable, caring and professional in meeting his spiritual needs .
I would like to thank Father McFaul for providing Pastoral care. I was allowed by my manager to time to spend with my friend and this not only gave him comfort, but provided my familywith great reassurance in knowing he was not alone in the end.
I would also like to thank the ward sister Edwina and consultant Mr Bahli for looking after him and explaining what happened in a gentle and caring manner. Our family will never forget the kind and compassionate way he was cared for on ward 32.
