"Stress, anxiety and upset."

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I’m in a same sex relationship and we are trying to have a baby. We have been waiting for 2 years now and are waiting to choose our sperm donor. But we can’t. Because NHS Ayrshire & Arran have failed to sign off on the funding for the treatment.

This causes myself and my wife so much stress, anxiety and upset. We have done everything to meet the criteria including weight loss surgery to have our baby and have now been waiting for several months for the funding sign off, whilst knowing other health boards have signed off their funding. It’s heartbreaking, soul destroying and we feel they are now stopping our basic human right of procreation.

Dear AF15

Thank you for taking the time to write to us. I am sorry to hear that you are facing challenges in your fertility journey. I would encourage you to seek support from our fertility services and your GP who will counsel you on what your options are and what funding streams may be available to you.

Kind regards

Attica
