"Birth in midwifery unit"

About: Maternity care / Maternity Triage Maternity care / Midwife Led Unit

(as the patient),

After planning to have a home birth I ended up in hospital due to the home birth team being out at another birth. I asked on the phone for the room with a pool if available and upon arrival was greeted by lovely staff who took us to the pool room.

We were cared for mostly by Lesley who was absolutely amazing, she had obviously read my birth plan notes before we arrived which helped massively. I think she stayed past her shift finishing time and ensured the safe arrival of our daughter, along with Zoe. Both midwives were so supportive and calm, which made it an amazing experience for us. We were in for a while the following day and all staff, including Nikki, looked after us so well. Leslie came back to see us when she started her next shift which was lovely. We can’t thank everyone involved in our care enough!

Dear Jr23,

Thank you for your sharing your thoughts on your encounter with the staff whilst in our care. I would like to offer you my congratulations to you and your partner on the birth of your daughter.

I am delighted to hear that you had a positive birth experience in our Midwife Led Unit with Lesley, Zoe and Nikki. I will personally inform them of your lovely comments. They will be delighted to hear that they were able to support you with your birth plan, despite being unable to have your baby at home. I appreciate your understanding of this situation when the team are in attendance at another birth.

Thank you once again for taking the time to feedback, especially when you will be busy caring for your daughter.

Best wishes to you and your family.

Pamela
