"Admission for elective section"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Maternity care (Wards 47, 48 & 50)

(as a service user),

Had a growth scan and then was left for 3 weeks with no information of what to expect at next appointment which was quite stressful after being told baby was very large and that I had polyhydramnios.

However, at the follow-up appointment registrar Rachael was great and very patient at discussing options. And nurse Sharon was fantastic - we had no scan arranged and she sorted this super quickly and made sure everything ran smoothly.

At pre op appointment Chloe was absolutely fantastic - so kind and listened to all our concerns and made us feel completely at ease about the next day.

Elective section - anaesthetists in particular were fantastic and the surgeon and midwife who was with us. Male anaesthetist unfortunately I have forgotten his name was fantastic.

On ward 47 - staff were generally good and helpful although at times we were not seen at all for hours and hours.

Special shout out to my nurse/midwife who was so supportive and friendly and really caring toward both baby and myself during our stay - you made the whole experience so much easier.

Thank you everyone.

Dear cooper21,

Many thanks for taking the time to tell us about your experience here at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Maternity Unit during what must have been a stressful time for you and your family.

I am so pleased to hear how fantastic Chloe was and I will ensure that she receives your thanks and appreciation along with our anaesthetic team and theatre team.

It is also reassuring to read how helpful, reassuring and friendly our team in Ward 47 were and I will feed back your thoughts to them regarding feeling that you were not seen for hours at a time. We are working to improve our postnatal care for women and babies and recognise how important support is during those first few days.

Best wishes to you and your family.
