"Couldn't have had a more positive birthing experience"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I was booked in to be induced 5 days after my due date. My partner and I were welcomed into the inpatients ward and were shown about where everything was, including where to get my meals.

Over the next 3 days I was given 6 prostin tablets, which of course can be very uncomfortable, but the midwives who always introduced themselves on different shift changes, were always checking in if you required any pain medication and making sure you knew when meal times were.

As this is a busy ward, while I was attached to a monitor before receiving a prostin tablet, this can take some time. Midwives and healthcare assistants offered to get your meal for you as partners are not allowed to enter the room where you get your meal.

There was a slight delay in getting my waters broken as the labour ward was full, but I was understanding that there can be emergencies that take priority. Having that extra day meant I had a quick first birth after having my waters broken at 8.30am and naturally delivered my baby girl after 1pm.

Kirsty who delivered my baby, I couldn't have been happier with how she dealt with me in the most positive and professional way. Post birth, we were taken back to the inpatients ward and were lucky enough to be given our own room. We are very pleased with the aftercare given to check on myself and baby as well as the help and support in breastfeeding.

A big thank you to the ladies who made my birthing experience the most positive one.

Dear Llauren361,

Congratulations on the birth of your baby. Thank you for taking the time to provide such wonderful feedback, especially at such a busy time. I will make sure that all staff involved in your care are informed of your kind words. I hope that you are well and that baby is thriving.

Best Wishes

Jane
