Anything else?
Unfortunately my waters had broken but labour stalled so couldn't continue at the New Forest Birth Centre. I reported to Princess Anne the next day for induction. This was my 1st baby so didn't have a clue what to expect but didn't expect the first class, amazingly personal service I received from such a large and busy hospital. Things didn't follow any common path apparently and the stress levels in my room should have been very high but they were not. Staff from the morning were extremely professional and calm in a potentially very precarious situation with 2 very clueless parents. We can't thank them enough for our wonderful, beautiful, son born on Sat 24th Aug 2013. How they do that day in and day out I'll never know. Found out afterwards Aug Bank Holiday weekend is apparently famous for being the worst weekend to go to hospital due to new junior doctors' rotation beginning but this obviously doesn't apply at The Princess Anne. Spent 3 wonderful days afterwards at the New Forest Birth Centre with amazing breast feeding and other aspects of maternal support which gave me the confidence to go home feeling prepared for the consequences of the weekend's life-changing events, something most people are not fortunate to have on offer. And I actually don't live in Southampton but was lucky enough to have had the knowledge you can choose where to give birth on the NHS, even if you live in a different county.
