I was given the opportunity at fairly short notice to have my knee replacement operation at Stracathro Hospital. I was apprehensive, but grateful not to have been given too much time to think and worry about it. Thankfully, I had friends who were willing to drive me to Stracathro early in the morning and to bring me home when required.
From the moment I arrived at Stracathro, I was made to feel welcome by friendly staff. And that is what I'm left feeling four weeks into my recovery. All of the staff that I met during my stay were helpful, friendly and considerate. There was always someone available to help me, or to offer a kind word of support.
In particular, I'm grateful for the care I was given as I made my way from Admission down to the Theatre for my operation. Everything was carefully explained to me and I was able to ask questions or express any concern that I might have had. From Anaesthetics, through to Recovery and then back to the Ward, I was treated with care, kindness and thoughtfulness.
I was given every encouragement in my recovery and with the help of the Physiotherapy staff, I was able to be discharged two days after my operation. I continue to recover at home and I'm feeling very optimistic about my recovery. I don't believe that I could have had a more positive experience and I am very, very grateful to all of the amazing staff that I met at Stracathro.
