It has been absolutely fantastic on the Female Surgical Ward. The staff have all been lovely and very helpful. They always explain everything to me very well and if I don't understand something, they sit down and explain it to me until I understand. All the staff have been equally as nice so I couldn't name anyone in particular.
The ward has been clean and comfortable. The domestic staff have a very high attention to cleanliness - they are always going around cleaning all the table tops and the window ledges. There has been an improvement in the menu since I have last been in with more options and variety available than before. I still think some nice coleslaw or something similar on the side would be nice but I appreciate this may be a riskier food to introduce in a hospital setting.
There is really only one area I think could be improved. I am in for rehabilitation, however due to my age I am ineligible to stay on the Rehab Ward on level 4 where you have to be over 65. This ward is where I feel like I would be best placed for my needs. For example, I would receive more regular physio than what I would be getting here. I have also noticed that the staff are always under such immense pressure, especially during the night. There always seems to be less staff on during the night but with the same amount of work to do - I really do feel for them.
