"Thankful for the Lotus Midwifery team"

About: Causeway Hospital / Delivery Suite Causeway Hospital / Early Pregnancy Unit Causeway Hospital / Maternity Unit Northern Health & Social Care Trust / Continuity of Midwifery Carer Service (The Lotus Team)

(as the patient),

From start to finish the lotus Midwifery team in causeway was amazing! We didn’t know a lot about lotus until we met the team of girls. We started off seeing Alana for the first couple of visits who was great and explained who they were and what they did. We were then introduced to Jordan (lotus midwife) and well what can I say Jordan knows her job inside out she put us at ease and it was a laugh a minute with her which we absolutely loved, it put us at so much more ease.

My husband and I both found Jordan great, we are first time parents and anything we weren’t sure of we were able to ask Jordan who answered any of our questions or worries, this also meant if I wanted to ask Jordan anything and I was at home I was able to message her to ask.

Jordan was also very good when it came to measuring our baby and raised the concerns that our little girl had low fluid and was also breech. Jordan was able to explain to us what our options would be now due to what she could feel and see on the ultrasound. Jordan said whatever we decided she would stand by us and our decision. Jordan also organised along with the doctor (who was also amazing) for me to be monitored closely every few days until our little girl would be born. Even on the days I was being monitored if Jordan knew we were there she would pop her head in to check we were okay! The last week before our little girl was born I was told I would have to stay in hospital because of reduced movement and there being the reduced fluid and breech position of our baby girl. I found this quite scary as I’d never stayed in hospital before and I became quite upset about it. Jordan was on the ward the next morning and was able to pop in to see me, I was quite anxious and upset as to what was going to happen and when. Jordan sat down beside me and showed empathy, a kind and caring attitude towards me as she knew how worried I was. Jordan chatted with me and we discussed how I felt, 15minutes later I felt much better after chatting to Jordan. Jordan continued to pop in anytime she was free to check on me throughout my stay at causeway. Jordan also sat with us and discussed with us my elective C-section and what would happen and Jordan had also put her name down to be there in my surgery! (You couldn’t get much better than that, having the midwife you’ve seen throughout the majority of your pregnancy with you to meet your little one and take care of you)!
Throughout the surgery I had my husband right by my side and Jordan on the other making sure I was okay. Jordan continued to check on us after my surgery and then came out to see us for upto 10 days after I had our little girl. We can’t ever thank the whole of the lotus team enough and special mention to Jordan for what she did for us throughout my pregnancy and after I had our little girl, she’s hands down one of the best midwife’s about. I feel happy to have had such a great team. I would say to anyone expecting a baby please, please please consider the lotus team down at Causeway! You won’t regret it and the way they care and look after you is second to none. I know that if we are lucky to have another baby in the future I will most certainly be going to see the lotus midwifery team!

Dear MelG98,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback, it means so much to the staff and I will of course share this with Jordan and the Lotus Team. I am delighted that you had such a positive experience of your journey to welcome your little girl.

Your feedback reiterates the importance of continuity of midwifery carer, which as a Trust are transforming our services, so that all women regardless of obstetric or midwifery needs will have the opportunity to be cared for in a small team of midwives through pregnancy, birth and early parenting period. The Lotus team are leading the way as the first continuity of midwifery carer team in the Trust with more teams to follow,

Once again thank you for your feedback MelG98,

Best Wishes,

Rachel
