I saw my consultant in July, who was impressed that I’d been proactive and had my own MRI done, and asked if i could get a CD of it and have it transferred to my NHS file.
That was the easy part! Transferring said CD to NHS file? Appears to be impossible, with every person I have spoken to so far - from GP surgery to Consultant’s secretary - having no idea how to go about this.
I have a serious problem which is likely to need major surgery, and have no way for serial MRIs to be compared. Not one person appears to have the knowledge to be able to do this, and I believe some are inventing reasons not to.
This is something that I generally have to do in my everyday work, so I am aware of various issues around access to medical records, GDPR, and so forth. It is inconceivable that NHS Ayrshire and Arran has not yet caught up with the 21st century, and is still treating patients like inconveniences, in my view.
