"Waiting time for an assessment"

About: General practices in Lanarkshire University Hospital Hairmyres / Ear, Nose & Throat

(as the patient),

I have had tinnitus for over 2 months. It is difficult to concentrate or sleep and the ringing is constant.

My GP was supportive of my tinnitus and quickly made a referral to ENT.

Unfortunately I have been told the waiting list is around 40 weeks.  I feel this is unacceptable - I am extremely unhappy about this as I don't know the source of my tinnitus and am concerned about my health.

I work for the NHS and am adamant I don't want to take time off to help me deal with the increasing stress I am feeling.

Dear jaks1

Thank you for sharing your concerns regarding the length of wait for your ENT referral. Tinnitus can be very distressing and I can understand your frustration at being told you may wait 40 weeks.

In order for us to look into your particular circumstances we will need to talk with you to ascertain more details. Would you therefore be able to contact Patient Affairs on 01355 585325 or PatientAffairs.Hairmyres@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk

I look forward to hearing from you.

Lise
