I had a great experience with the midwives in the BGH and the Jedburgh community midwives.
Throughout my pregnancy I felt the care shown by the community midwives was excellent. They listened to my wishes to have a VBAC after a c section with my first birth and explained all my options. I went past my due date and the midwives phoned and made time to see me to check everything was OK.
At 10 days overdue I went to the BGH to be induced. The staff on ward 16 were lovely the night I stayed in. Then the next day the midwife, Claire, who looked after me really understood how much I wanted to try for a VBAC and gave me the option of more time and a second induction to avoid a c section again.
My second induction the following night was successful. Again the staff on ward 16 were lovely. When I moved to the labour ward Amy was my midwife and a brilliant support. At the shift change Kerry took over and was amazing, she was encouraging and patient with me. After the birth she regularly checked on us and had the perfect balance of giving us time with our son and checking in.
When I went home the care by the community midwives continued to be excellent. Carly the student midwife especially came to every visit and it was great to have the same face to see the progress my son had made. I can’t thank everyone involved in my care enough.
