"Bowel surgery"

About: Causeway Hospital / Stoma Care Specialist Nurse Causeway Hospital / Surgical 2

(as a service user),

I have suffered with Crohn’s/colitis for several years and had emergency surgery carried out by Mr Davey to de-function my bowel and give me a stoma. He was able to fit me in for surgery on a tight schedule and made me feel completely at ease. Mr Davey showed nothing but compassion before my surgery, explaining everything in detail and trying to settle my fears. I am now 11 days post-op and have never felt better - I have my life back. All of the nurses/HCA in surgical 2 were amazing throughout my week-long stay and I can’t thank them enough. Also to my stoma nurses Jessica and Marie who did everything they could to ensure my recovery continued and I felt at ease when going home. A great team.
