"My 6 week stay in ICU and ward 4c"

About: The Ulster Hospital / Intensive Care Unit The Ulster Hospital / Ward 4C

(as the patient),

I was rushed to icu on February 2020 with a pangealic abscess in my tooth which caused huge complications with my breathing as the infection deepened. I had 4 separate procedures and spent 19 days on a ventilator and then convalesced in ward 4c until my return home in March 2020. I owe the max fax team my life in essence and would love to be in touch with them again that along with the care provided by the wonderful people in ward 4c helped my recovery enormously. I know I was a challenge to the staff on my initial move from icu to the ward lol.

Maybe some of the staff remain there?

My lead consultant was Mr McAuley - top man.

I just want them to know I’m still alive and kicking, onto 4 grandchildren now and another due in 6 weeks, great times as I’m also now semi retired .

I really hope everyone is well as my life as it is would not be here but for you all.

Thank you

Hi DA65,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience in ICU and 4C.

It must have been a difficult time for you and your family. I shall make sure to share you kind words with both teams and Mr McAuley. It is always great to hear feedback from patients.

I wish you well in your semi-retirement and congratulations on your extending family.

Best regards

Katharine
