"Amazing maternity care"

About: Lanarkshire Community Services / Community Maternity Care University Hospital Hairmyres / Radiology University Hospital Wishaw / Maternity Care (Wards 21-24)

(as a service user),

A huge thank you to the entire maternity team in South Lanarkshire for the care I received throughout my pregnancy, birth and post natal period.

A huge thank you to Liz, my community midwife, who I saw throughout my pregnancy - she answered all my questions and showed such kindness and understanding. It was so lovely that is was Liz who came out to do our newborn son's visits at home too, the continuity of care has made such a difference in making this a positive experience.

I attended Hairmyres for my scans and diabetes test, and the midwifes and sonographers were all lovely, friendly and compassionate.

I had a planned c-section and it was a brilliant experience from start to finish. Karen our midwife on the day was wonderful, so helpful and friendly and put me at ease. Dr Johnson and all the medical staff were great and provided the gentle section approach that I had been so looking forward to, it was a beautiful birth and very healing after a prior emergency c-section.

Following my birth back in recovery I was looked after so well whilst I had some issues with my BP. I was given a bed bath by two HCAs which made me feel much better and was very much appreciated.

The post natal ward was also excellent and all the midwifes/health care assistants/ANPs were lovely, helpful friendly and encouraging - explaining everything and showing lots of compassion.

Overall I have had nothing but a positive experience and am so thankful to have given birth to my little boy in Lanarkshire.

Dear Clard86,

Firstly congratulations on the birth of your baby boy! Thank you for taking the time to share such lovely feedback about your maternity experience in Lanarkshire.

It is so heart-warming to hear about your journey throughout and how our professional and dedicated teams have been able to support you throughout.

I am so pleased to hear that you were able to have the gentle c-section that you wanted. I will be sure to feedback your lovely words to everyone concerned in your care. It is very encouraging for staff to be recognised and I am sure your comments about Liz, Karen and Dr Johnson will give the whole team a much needed boost.

I hope you are all settling well into life at home.

Kind Regards,

Jenni
