I was admitted to Southampton Hospital whilst in a medically induced coma and intubated, to have an emergency mechanical valve replacement. When I arrived at Hospital I was very very ill. I spent 3 weeks in intensive car, 2 weeks in high care and the rest on the young adults cardiac ward. The doctors and nurses at Southampton saved my life and ill be eternally grateful. The service was heartfelt, thorough, encouraging & generally just great from start to finish. My family were even put up at Heartbeat house for 8 weeks so they could be with me. Ill never forget the kindness that was extended to them. Thank you for everything that you did. If I had a minor grumble. Sometimes your recovery seems to move quite slowly. The doctors & nurses are so busy that sometimes duties can be put off until the next day. But this isn't across the board. Also the weekends are a fairly quiet time. Not much active recovery happens in that period. But you cant blame a doctor for wanting a weekend. Secondly, I was on the young adults cardiac ward. Although I was probably only person in there under 65. (I'm 29 years old) But the Hospital cant be blamed for that. Despite these 2 minor points. The Hospital gave me 5* service. & ill be eternally grateful. Thankyou.
