"Feeling intimidated"

About: Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre / Ward B4

(as a relative),

About 12 staff were sitting at the nursing station drinking tea/coffee eating biscuits. When we walked up I felt like I was back in time in the school playground as everyone stood and stared at me. Very intimidating to be honest.

I wanted to ask a few questions with regards to my mum as she was sitting waiting on fluids and medication. I just wasn’t expecting such dryness from staff.

Dear Lou john,

I was very sorry to read of your experience in ward B4 when visiting your mother. Wards should always be a welcoming place for visitors and I apologise sincerely that at a time when you wanted reassurance from staff about your mother's care, this was not forthcoming.

I have passed your post directly to the Lead Nurse for the Beatson, Nicky Donnelly and asked that she address this with the staff in ward B4 as this is not the standard we aspire to. I have asked Nicky to provide me with feedback following this.

If you would like to speak with Nicky she can be contacted on 0141 301 7079 or by email at Nicky.Donnelley@ggc.scot.nhs.uk

Thank you for bringing this to my attention and I would like to say how truly sorry I am for your experience and the upset this has caused you.

Kind Regards

Elaine Burt
