"I am delighted with all the care received"

I was referred by my GP on an urgent basis to the Respiratory Department at Ninewells Hospital recently with suspected pulmonary embolism.

On entering the department I was immediately welcomed by a nurse and shown into the bay to wait to be seen by a doctor.  On examination the doctor sent me for x-rays.  I was taken to the x-ray department by a very friendly porter.  Following my x-ray I was then sent for a CT scan.  This scan showed that I did indeed have several clots in both lungs. I was given appropriate medication and discharged but with follow up investigations planned. 

Whilst I was in the department I was extremely impressed by the care I received. The nurses were very attentive and caring. They made me feel relaxed and safe within the environment.  I noticed that this excellent care was extended to all the patients in the bay, and although a very busy department, the nursing staff always had time to answer any questions asked and give medical care to their patients. It was really heartwarming to receive such excellent care and to feel that the staff wanted to help in any way they could. 

Recently I had a special heart scan with good results.  Dr Spears, consultant, then telephoned me to discuss the results and future care plan.  Once again, Dr Spears fully answered my questions with patience and allowed me to discuss any worries with him.  We spent a good amount of time on this call and I was extremely grateful for his time and professionalism together with his friendly approach. 

All in all I am delighted with all the care received from Dr Spears and his wonderful team.  Thank you all so much for the outstanding care I received.  I wish you all the very best.
