"Made to feel I was in safe hands throughout"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Day Surgery

(as the patient),

I was in Wishaw General in July for a Breast wide local excision and sentinel lymph node biopsy.

I would like to just say that my experience was amazing.  As you can imagine I was very anxious about the procedure but the day surgery staff were so reassuring and informative and put me at ease right away. Theatre 6 the staff were great also amazing.  So caring.

The only complaint I would have is the where my bed was in day surgery there was air conditioning above me and by the time of my operation I was frozen stiff.  they did give me a blanket but by that time I was so cold.  Unfortunately the ward was full so they couldn't move me to another space.

Apart from that I was made to feel I was in safe hands throughout the procedure I was about to have.

Dear madmo,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Care Opinion.

It can be a worrying time attending hospital for a procedure and I am so please to hear that our staff have reassured you and made you feel at ease. I am however sorry to hear that you were so cold due to the air conditioning vent being above your bed. I am glad that the nurse was able to give you a blanket but sorry that it was too late to keep you warm.

I will be sure to feedback both the positive and negatives to your experience. I am sure the recognition will give the staff a much needed boost and the air conditioning will be a good learning experience within the ward as we always look to do better for our patients.

I hope you are recovering well.

Kind Regards,

Jenni
