"Wishaw General Hospital Pain Control Clinic"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Chronic Pain Management Clinic

(as a parent/guardian),

The pain control clinic has been moved into day surgery. My son, aged 48,  receives a 5 weekly Lidocaine infusion for pain control due to nerve damage in his back, caused by strokes. This pain control makes his life bearable and the work done by the pain clinic for him is invaluable.

We both feel, since pain control has been moved back to day surgery, that the intimate space provided on Floor 0 has changed. We are very aware that patients recovering from day surgery are in the next bay, and this makes conversation with the pain control nurses, who are fantastic, more difficult.

Perhaps you could consider returning the pain control clinic to a separate area, as the patients would be more able to discuss their ongoing treatment with the nurses.

Looking forward to hear your thoughts on this matter.

Dear Labrador Mum,

Thank you for sharing your son's experience of the University Hospital Wishaw, Pain Management Clinic.

I am so pleased to hear that the treatment your son receives 5 weekly is making a difference to his quality of life. I am also pleased to hear that your experience of the staff has been excellent and that when your son is in for treatment he is very well looked after.

I am sorry to hear about the change of location and the subsequent issues this is causing your son during his appointments. Conversations with our medical staff are very important and I am sorry that this is now not possible. We always want to make things better for patients, it would be helpful if you could contact Patient Affairs at University Hospital Wishaw so that they can understand the issues in more detail.
